On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from 64 station on the centreline showing the bar equipped with two beer pumps, one of which dispenses Courage Export. A spirit cupboard is at the back of the bar. Two soda siphons, a Black & White water jug and an ice bucket advertising Black & White Scotch Whisky and Booth's Gin are on the bar. A settee bench and a Thermotank air conditioning unit are against the aft bulkhead at 67 station.
