On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to port from 64 station on the centreline showing a long settee bench against the aft and port bulkheads. a table and chair are in the centre of the deck. A notice defining the duties of Chief Petty Officers and Petty Officers, a games cupboard and two bookshelves are above the settee bench.
