The U.S. Brig Porpoise in a squall. Drawn and Engraved Expressly for the New Mirror by W J Bennett
A port broadside view of the American ‘Porpoise’ under sail in a storm. Several sailing vessels of differing sizes are also in the vicinity. A stretch of land can be seen on the horizon. She is described by Howard Chapelle in the ‘American Sailing Navy’ as a brigantine. Coloured aquatint.
