On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is on the signal projector platform between 39 and 40 stations on the centreline of 02 deck looking to port from the centreline showing the port 20 inch signal projector. The pivot mount for the ten inch signal projector is fixed to the port screen. The general purpose frigate Phoebe (1964), pendant F42, is undergoing a maintenance period alongside the north wall of the basin.
