On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the main passageway (known as the Burma Road) between 16 and 23 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 22 station showing a fire main, hose basket, telephone, transformer and cable stowage against the gun bay on the right. The canteen is on the left. Open watertight hatches are on either side of the door to the senior rates' mess and above the forward hatch is a pattern 5665 smoke mask and hose. A vertical format negative.
