On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the main passageway (known as the Burma Road) between 23 and 30⅔ stations on 2 deck looking aft from 26 station showing the closed watertight door at 30⅔ station. A cable stowage bracket has a locker above it on the left, the door to the A/S stabilizer and plane converter compartment is next to them and an international breathing apparatus mk. 2 cabinet can be seen. An open watertight hatch on the right has an automatic emergency lantern above it and the sliding door to the communications control room transmitting section (CCR(TX) is next. A vertical format negative.
