On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the operations room between 31¼ and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking forward and to starboard from the port side at 33 station showing the gun direction officer's section. The main control console is in the foreground. Three junction boxes, one of which has the cover removed, are against the forward bulkhead and an electrical unit is in the corner with its cover standing on the deck. A Thermotank air conditioning unit is at high level and a Powquip teleprinter is on the right.
