On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 27½ and 31¼ stations on 01 deck looking to port from 30 station on the centreline showing the port side of the bridge. The door to the bridge wing is on the left and a fire extinguisher is next to it. The signalman's reading desk and morse key, the signal key switch indicating unit, three telephones, an electric fire and two loudspeakers are against the forward bulkhead.
