On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 27½ and 31¼ stations on 01 deck looking to starboard from 30 station on the centreline showing the starboard side of the bridge. The captain's chair is on the left. A three seat signalling desk equipped with an interphone switchboard, a telephone, a microphone, an intercom speaker and a morse key is against the forward bulkhead. The door to the starboard bridge wing is on the right with a fire extinguisher next to it. The hatch leading down to 1 deck is in the right foreground.
