On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the main communications office between 32¼ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from 34 station showing a transmitter state board on the end of the B.I.D. racks on the left. In the corner is Bay 6, the ship to shore bay, equipped with a Powquip teleprinter, a morse key, and a CJC unit. In the right foreground is the Bay 8 desk of the callsign typist. Against the aft bulkhead are pigeon hole shelving, a rectifier unit and two fuse panels.
