On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the main communications office between 32¼ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to port from 34 station showing the Bay 8 desk of the callsign typist. A number of papers are on the desk and a pin-up calendar for March and April 1971, an interphone socket box and a handset are above the desk. Against the aft bulkhead are pigeon hole shelving, a clock reading 1.58, switch units and a temperature warning unit. The position of the rating in charge is behind Bay 8 and against the screen bulkhead in the background is the control circuit exchange unit.
