The Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959). The Gemini outboard motor stowage at 51 station on the port side of 1 deck.
On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is looking aft from 49 station on the port side of 1 deck at the Gemini outboard motor stowage bracket mounted on the forward bulkhead of the helicopter hangar at 51 station. Next to the bracket is the G.W.S. magazine natural exhaust which is labelled "To be open only when G.W.S. air conditioning has failed". In the background is the Dutch Navy frigate Isaac Sweers (1967) which was visiting Chatham with the Standing Naval Force Atlantic (STANAVFORLANT). Her 4.5 inch guns are at maximum elevation.
