His Majesty's Brig Frolic Entering the Harbour of Rio Janerio, during a Pampeiros. Sugar Loaf Mountain. Cochorvada Mountain
Lithograph print inscribed: "Sugar Loaf Mountain" and "Cochorvada Mountain"; and below this "His Majesty's Brig Frolic Entering the Harbour of Rio Janerio, during a Pampeiros". A pampeiros refers to a cold, southwesterly wind, which in this case has brought a thunderstorm over the pampas (plains) of South America. The Frolic seems untroubled by the storm, but another ship can be seen on its side in the background on the left. Some naval brigs were given an additional mast, as can be seen here on the Frolic.
