On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the main passageway (known as the Burma Road) between 49 and 63 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 58 station showing an open hatch leading down to a junior rates' mess on 3 deck. In the lobby outside the senior rates' mess are two damage control lockers, a folding stretcher, a ventilation trunking with fans, a damage control breathing apparatus spare hose and face mask cabinet and a rack containing 5 gallon drums of foam liquid.
