On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the main passageway (known as the Burma Road) between 49 and 63 stations on 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from 58½ station showing an open hatch leading down to a junior rates' mess on 3 deck in the left foreground. Two telephones, fuse panels, an emergency connection box, a fire hose basket, the door to the sickbay, two fire extinguishers and the sliding door to the senior rates' mess are on the starboard side. The watertight doors at 63 and 66 stations are open. A vertical format negative.
