On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is on the quarterdeck between 67 and 80½ stations on 2 deck looking to starboard from 78 station on the port side showing bollards covered with a wooden seat on the left. Two concrete blocks, one with a wire rope ladder attached, a wooden boom and two dan buoys are laying on the deck. Petrol stowage racks are against the starboard guardrail. The ship is berthed starboard side to the basin wall.
