On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is looking aft at the superstructure and bridge front from 24 station on the port side of the forecastle deck. The replenishment at sea (RAS) tripod is mounted in front of the bridge and the 4.5 inch magazine flooding cabinet is next to it. A coil of rope and a multiple hydraulic hose connection are on the deck. A wooden seat used to cover bollards is in the foreground. In the background is the Netherlands Navy frigate Isaac Sweers (1967) alongside the west wall during a visit by the Standing Naval Force Atlantic (STANAVFORLANT).
