The photographer is in the aft auxiliary machinery and gland space (thrust block compartment) between 103 and 107 stations below the main flat. He is looking to port from the starboard side at 104 station showing the vertical ladder leading up to the aft crew accommodation. A Johnson lathe is on the left. On the propeller shaft the turning gear is on the left and the torsionmeter is beyond the ladder. A three drawer filing cabinet is on the right. A large air bottle is against the boat's side.
