This Corvette was 'senior officer' at Esquimalt in 1877 during the Russian war scare, and lay prepared for action, side by side with a Russian Cruiser of superior strength at Esquimalt the cable being broken down 3 or 4 other Russians were in San Francisco. Great exitement prevailed at Esquimalt, and fortifications were at once undertaken.
