Refractor telescope

This is a brass refractor telescope by Peter Dollond on an equatorial mounting by Haupois. DOLLOND * LONDON is engraved at the eye end of the telescope; Haupois A PARIS 1787 is engraved on the index arm.

Telescope: The length of the telescope is 43cm, the height of the mounting is 27cm, the diameter of the object glass is 5.0cm and the focal length of the telescope is 46cm. The telescope also has an object glass cap. The telescope is in good condition.

Stand: This unusual mounting consists of two brass circles and two brass pillars set at right angles to one another and attached to a supporting pillar. The telescope, by Dollond, can be pivoted to face any direction. The circle is set at right angles to the telescope and the tube is engraved with an hour scale - two sets of I-XII - and degrees from 1 to 360. The whole instrument is supported on three brass feet which are adjustable.

Accessories & box: The telescope came into the collection without box or additional accessories.
