Refractor telescope

The three inch refractor telescope is made from lacquered brass and black enamel. The tube is 1140mm in length and 1340mm when the eye end is extended. The diameter of the lens is 75mm. The lens cap is an enamel and brass cylinder 180mm in length with a wooden handle. There is a brass wheel for focusing on the side of the tube and eye-end.
The telescope also has a mahogany tripod. A brass bracket on the telescope fits into two grooves on top of the tripod and the telescope can be adjusted in the vertical plane. The top of the tripod rotates and adjusts the telescope in the horizontal. Two rods which can be extended or collapsed connect the eye end of the telescope to the tripod to fix the telescope in position.

Separate equipment includes two brass eye-pieces, which fit into the viewing end of the tube, and an eye-piece dust cap. When not in use the telescope rests in a fitted pine case 48 x 7 x 6 inches. There is a plastic label on the lid of the box which reads "90, 91, 93, 94 Fleet Street EC. City Sale and Exchange."
