Portable reflector telescope

This is a portable reflector telescope signed I Cuff. It has no lens. This telescope is similar to other telescopes in the collection, AST0940 and AST0945 so much so that it seems likely the main components came from the same workshop. AST0938 and AST0940 are identical except for the signature on the former and except for the boxes. Telescope AST0945 is identical with the other two except for the shagreen covering but there are minor differences with the stand.

Telescope: The brass barrel of the telescope is covered with black 'sharkskin'. The sharkskin is scratched in places. It has adjustable inclination and rotary movement. The screw-on eyepiece has a brass cap, there is also a spare eyepiece cap. Within the barrel are primary and secondary (objective) specula (mirrors). There is a rod attached to the barrel for screw thread focusing of the secondary mirror. The object end cap is missing. The length of the telescope with the eyepiece is 430 mm. Gregorian, 70mm aperture.

Stand: The telescope is mounted on a brass pillar with three collapsable claw legs. The telescope comes apart from its stand for storage pruposes. The brass stand shows scratches and corrosion, and the sharkskin barrel is scratched in places but otherwise the piece is in good condition.
