The crew are onboard, wearing lifejackets and manning the oars. People are gathered behind, along the railings near the harbour steps, watching the boat being launched. At the bottom of the steps is a blacksmith's with the sign 'W J OWEN SHOEING & GENERAL SMITHERY' above the door. A man is leaning on the door frame watching the boat launching.
A copy negative of an original print.
The Elizabeth and Blanche (1895) was stationed at Penzance between 1895 and 1899 before being transferred to Reserve. In that time it recorded launches to four ships and saved 34 lives. It was replaced by a non self-righting lifeboat of the same name.
