The general cargo ship Wimborne (1898) wrecked off the cliffs at Tol-Padn-Penwith, Cornwall
A middle distant bow view of the steel screw general cargo steamer Wimborne (1898) wrecked below the rocks off Tol-Padn-Penwith, two-and-a-half miles to the southeast of Land's End. The ship is semi-submerged from the bridge to the stern in rough seas. The stern section looks to have broken off and the top is at an angle to the waves. Both anchors have been set and a line stretches from the stempost to the shore. The photographer was standing on the cliff top near Carn Guthenbras looking down at the wreck.
This is a copy negative from an original print.
The Wimborne (1898) was on passage from Rotterdam to Barry in ballast, when it was caught in a gale and bad visibility, and ended up shore off the cliffs of Carn Guthenras and Top-Pedn-Penwith, Cornwall.
