A starboard broadside view of the wooden ketch Ystwyth (1861) stranded at Carbis Bay, St. Ives.
A starboard side view, just aft of the broadside, of the wooden ketch-rigged cargo ship Ystwyth (1861) stranded on the beach at Cardis Bay, just south east of St. Ives. The yards and sails have been lowered and stowed. A man, with his back to the camera, is standing on the beach off the broadside and two other men are standing together off the bow. The tide is out and the ship has settled upright into the sand.
This is an original copy negative from an original print.
The Ystwyth (1861) was anchored near St. Ives during a NNW gale with a cargo of coal but was driven shore and standed on 28 January 1908. She became a totoal loss.
