A painting depicting the starboard broadside view of the sailing ship Erik Rickmers (1897) under full sail with house flag, name flag and signal flags flying. The original painting was mounted in an oval mount.

The German three-masted sailing ship Erik Rickmers (1897) was wrecked in fog on Scilly Rocks, Isles of Scilly, on 25 October 1899 having left Bankok 130 days before. The crew abandoned the ship after 4 hours and it settled in the water until only the masts were showing.
