A middle distant port side view of the steamer Harberton (1894) in ballast and under tow off Land's End.

A port side view, just forward of the broadside of the steam collier Harberton (1894), taken from the shore. The collier is floating free in ballast and under tow from the Emperor tug, having hit the Kettle's Bottom Reef off Land's End. Various ships in the background behind the tug.

The Harberton (1894) was assisted by the Sennan Cove RNLI lifeboat Ann Newbon after becoming stranded on Kettle's Bottom Reef on 17 October 1895 while on voyage from London to Barry. It was refloated on 18 October under their own efforts but in the process the propeller was smashed on the reef so it anchored until assistance arrived. The Emperor tug came from Falmouth and took the ship under tow to Whitesand Bay where it anchored. On 20 October the Emperor and Dragon tugs towed Harberton to the western breakwater at Falmouth.
