The Type 81 frigate Gurkha (1960) in dry dock at Southampton. She was docked between 13 and 26 October 1962 for final hull cleaning and painting before her steaming trials. The photographer is at the bottom of the dock close to the starboard side of the stern looking to port and forward showing the twin rudders, the five bladed propeller, the A bracket and the propeller shaft between 79 and 94 stations. A man is sitting astride the propeller shaft and the propeller blades have been numbered and lined.
