On board the Type 81 frigate Gurkha (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of John I Thornycroft & Co Ltd at Woolston, Southampton. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 40 and 43½ stations on 01 deck looking aft and to starboard from 40½ station near the centreline. A curtain is at the rear of the chart table and a visual display unit on the right. The commanding officer's high chair is in the left foreground. Against the aft bulkhead are the fleet disposition board, the underwater equipment state board, the A/S exercise board, a bookshelf, a night signal box, a control panel and a wooden desk with a cupboard and drawer under.
