The photographer is in the wardroom between 50 and 56 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking aft and to starboard showing easy chairs and coffee tables in the centre of the room. Settees are on either side of the electric fire against the aft bulkhead and a club fender is in front of the fire. Above the fireplace is a framed painting of the destroyer Gurkha (1937) under air attack by German He 111 aircraft of KG 26 off Stavanger, Norway, on 9 April 1940. She was hit aft, capsized and sank at 19.00 with the loss of her captain, four other officers and 11 seamen.
