On board the Type 81 frigate Gurkha (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of John I Thornycroft & Co Ltd at Woolston, Southampton. The photographer is in the sickbay between 42½ and 44 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port showing the operating table in the centre with two swinging cots near the port bulkhead. The double doors into the sickbay are in the port bulkhead. Against the aft bulkhead are a wash basin, a mirror, a desk, a telephone, a key cabinet, an automatic emergency lantern and two bookcases at high level. Against the forward bulkhead are a bench with equipment cupboards under and a refrigerator alongside.
