On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) alongside the fitting out berth of J Samuel White & Co Ltd at West Cowes, Isle of Wight. The photographer is in the transmitting station between 45 and 47 stations on the port side of 3 deck looking forward and to port showing two chairs in front of the operational console Mk. 2 against the port bulkhead. This console has range, elevation and bearing display units and a synchronising unit. Two chairs are in front of the Admiralty fire control box Mk. 10, console Mk. 6, against the forward bulkhead and one chair is against the Admiralty fire control box Mk. 10 application unit Mk. 7. Against the starboard bulkhead are two telephones, a starshell spotting unit box and two cast metal semi-circular units marked as C.O.S. (change over switch also colloquially known as tramway switch) on Admiralty plans but '2 Starshell' is cast into the cover and a brass label, which can only be partially read, has 'gun mounting' engraved on it, but refers to A and Y guns.
