The photographer is in the steering gear compartment between 85 and 90 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard showing the wire mesh cage round the steering gear motors. A hose is hanging on a bracket on the port side of the cage. Engineers' spare gear racks are against the starboard side and racks for the stowage of ceremonial lighting equipment are against the forward bulkhead. A fire extinguisher and an automatic emergency lantern are alongside the watertight door on the left.
