On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) alongside the fitting out berth of J Samuel White & Co Ltd at West Cowes, Isle of Wight. The photographer is in the steering gear compartment between 85 and 90 stations on 2 deck looking to port from 86 station on the starboard side showing the wire mesh cage round the steering gear motors. An emergency change over switch and connection box, the steering gear motor starter panel and a control panel are against the front of the cage. Racks for the stowage of ceremonial lighting equipment are against the forward bulkhead.
