The Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in dry dock in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. She was in dry dock from 4 October to 25 October 1973. The photographer is looking forward and to port from the bottom of the dock abreast the propeller shaft showing the starboard side of the ship. Three white parallel and one vertical divers search lines have been painted on the hull. A man is on a scaffold platform painting the draught marks white.
