The Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is looking to starboard from the quayside showing the upper hull and superstructure of the ship from the bridge to the after funnel. The AKE1 aerial for the type 965 radar is at the top of her foremast and she has type 293Q radar on a separate lattice mast. Her MRS.3 director is trained to starboard. She has the number 1 on her forefunnel indicating her attachment to the First Frigate Squadron. The ship is berthed port side to the quay and a number of motor cars are parked on the quay, including Ford Cortinas, Ford Corsairs, a Sunbeam Rapier, a Triumph Dolomite and a Triumph hardtop sports car.
