The Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is looking to starboard and slightly forward from the quayside showing the upper hull and superstructure of the ship from the foremast to the after funnel. The top of the foremast is out of the picture. She has the number 1 on her forefunnel indicating her attachment to the First Frigate Squadron. The 25 feet motor cutter and her 14 feet RNSA sailing dinghy have canvas covers. The ship is berthed port side to the quay.
