The Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is looking to starboard and forward from the quayside showing the upper hull and superstructure of the ship from the bow to the after funnel. The AKE1 aerial for the type 965 radar is at the top of the foremast and her type 293Q radar is on a separate lattice structure. The MRS.3 director is trained to starboard. She has the number 1 on her forefunnel indicating her attachment to the First Frigate Squadron. The 25 feet motor cutter and her 14 feet RNSA sailing dinghy have canvas covers. A cluster of flight deck landing lights is fitted to the rear of the after funnel. The ship is berthed port side to the quay.
