Carte Geometrique de la France
Cassini's Carte Geometrique de la France, enclosed in 9 leather slip cases, within a wooden chest. A silver plaque was affixed to the chest in 1936, and reads 'Taken from the Field of Waterloo by Col Henry Percy, Aide de Camp to Wellington.' Each sheet of the map has both a manuscript and a printed label. The catalogue titles have been taken from the manuscript labels, which give the names of the Republican Departements and Districts (and are often stuck over the printed labels), rather than the pre-1790 Provinces. 11 sheets of the map have manuscript demarcations of Republican administrative areas, as well as being extra-illustrated with tricolore flags.
