On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the handing space between 45½ and 47½ stations on the centreline of 01 deck looking aft and to starboard from 47 station. The hatch leading down to 1 deck is open and mounted of the aft bulkhead are an automatic emergency lantern, a pair of Miller's flaps, a fuse panel and a terminal box for the port 20 inch signalling projector.
