The photographer is looking forward and to port from 30 station on the starboard side of 1 deck showing the breakwater, the starboard drum of the twin headed electric capstan and the anchor cable arrangements. Behind the breakwater are a fire hose basket, a portable cable reel, three wicker fenders, two mushroom ventilators and an escape scuttle. The barrel of the 4.5 inch gun can be seen. The ship is berthed port side to the south wall of the basin.
