On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the sonar control room between 41 and 42¾ stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking forward showing the raised chair of the officer in charge on the left with a sonar control console behind it. Against the forward bulkhead are the main starter unit, a fuse panel for the type 177 sonar services, a telephone, a sonar playback unit, a control panel, relay units and a type 170 injector unit stowage. Against the ship's side are the chairs for the bearing console, the centre generator console, the range console and the depth console.
