An Imperial portable typewriter, a pile of papers and a senior officer's cap are on a cupboard and a small cupboard is mounted above on the aft bulkhead. A round table and an easy chair are in the right foreground and next to the open door of the cabin is an automatic emergency lantern. The ship's commanding officer at the time was Commander Alan Grose, RN.
