On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the wardroom between 50 and 56 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking to starboard and aft from 54½ station showing a settee with drawers under against the aft bulkhead. A bar is in the corner. An automatic emergency lantern is alongside the curtained door and a bookcase is to the left of the door. Two of the publications in the bookcase are the "Daily Mail Year Book" and "The Man in the Yellow Raft" by C.S. Forester, published in 1962. Also in the bookcase are a trophy cup, a statue of an inuit and a model of a guide dog presented by the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. An easy chair is in the left foreground.
