On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the 4.5 inch handing room and gun crew's shelter between 74½ and 75¾ stations on the centreline of 1 deck looking to starboard showing the handle of a piasaba brush alongside the cable reel in the right foreground with the two ammunition hoists beyond it. A smoke shell locker and two cable reels are at high level against the aft bulkhead. Propped up in the starboard aft corner are two oval panels depicting the head of an inuit male wearing a wolf or wolverine fur lined anorak or parka hood. In the starboard bulkhead is the door to the 4.5 inch ready use locker with the small arms locker above it. Two cable reels and a locker are against the forward bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
