On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is on the starboard side of the quarterdeck at 93 station looking forward and to port showing the two towed bodies for the type 182 sonar stowed on the left. A large cable reel with a wheeled trolley is on the right and another cable reel is attached to the capstan with its trolley standing behind it. Two dan buoys are laid fore and aft on the port side of the deck. The 4.5 inch Mark V Mod. 2 gun mount has the barrel slightly elevated. The ship is berthed port side to the south wall of the basin.
