On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the passageway between 16 and 32 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking aft and slightly to starboard from 21 station showing the open hatch leading down to the hull outfit 15 (sonar type 170) compartment in the foreground. Above the opening is a hoist and against the starboard bulkhead is the hoist starter panel. A cable stowage bracket and an automatic emergency lantern are abaft the hatch. A vertical format negative.
