A slightly distant port broadside view of the Canadian Pacific Steamships cruise ship Empress of Australia (1914) anchored in a Norwegian fjord. Her starboard anchor is deployed and an accommodation ladder is rigged at a shell door amidships. Lifeboat number 20 has been launched and the ship is making considerable smoke from the forward funnel. There are patches of snow on the mountains in the background. The negative is slightly out of focus.
