On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the P.O's mess between 73 and 77 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward and to starboard showing a settee bench against the starboard bulkhead. Above the settee is a plaque depicting "Piston Broke" and a noticeboard. Between the settee and the access to the sleeping area are a shelf with a mirror above, an automatic emergency lantern and coat hooks. The forward partition has lift out panels and a curtain covers the access to the sleeping area.
