On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the junior rate's mess between 41 and 45 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward from the port side of the mess showing a line of kit lockers against the port bulkhead and two triple tier bunk units. An automatic emergency lantern, a mirror and a husband's card depicting two deer in a snow scene are against the forward bulkhead. An electric iron and a wire rope ladder are on the deck under the escape hatch. A vertical format negative.
